Can't carry over UV Editor face selection to Editable Poly faces..

Hi

For the purpose of assigning separate material IDs, I'm trying to convert faces from my UV Editor shell to polygon faces in the Editable Poly mode, is that doable without scripts? Selecting the faces one by one would take too long.

The closest thing that I came across in my search was this thread in Polycount: http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=80079

This is my modifier stack if it helps:
MeshSmooth
VRayDisplacementMod
Unwrap UVW
Editable Poly

if I'm understanding you right this should work

add epoly mod ontop of the uv while the stuff is selected
drag the epoly under the uv
collapse the modifier into base mesh
