I haven't sent this guy anything yet, I just checked my email. I've only shown him one render (my original one) and he said he wanted the car paint look after seeing that one.
All this weekend I've been asking you guys and of course looking up tutorials and references on my own.
I hadn't checked my mail all weekend.
And I do right now so I can send him my proof and bolts.
And I get an e-mail from him with 3 links to tutorials on how to make Car Paint in 3DS Max. How do I tell this guy that this is insulting of the lowest common denominator. Not only does he not give me the chance to submit a proof of it, but he thinks I can't find my own reference or do my own research.
This is the first time anybody has actually sent me online tutorials related to a project.
I feel really insulted. Should I let it roll off my back, or should I say something. Keep in mind he's only seen 1 image as of right now and it's what I submitted to him on Friday.

Just let it roll off your back, getting upset about it to him will just turn him away. Reassure him that what he saw was a first draft, and not to worry about the final output. Clients usually seem to think that nothing will get done if not for their input. I call it the "thumbs in the pie" factor.

Now onto the serious part. This is a typical example of not controlling your client.
It isnt his fault, it's yours. It's you who have to educate your client.
The fact you've only shown him the first render you did shows him that you didnt spent any further time on the project, thus him making think you either have no time to do it or either he thinks you're not able to do it (and then kindly sending you some pointers on how to do it)
Communication is the worst enemy in doing business. It's vital. And here my friends we have a case of bad communication.

It was more of a sarcastic post than a whiny post but I can see how that my post comes off as whiny.
You do know however this guy only gave me the logo and said "Here make it 3D" with only giving me full details after I provided him with the first render. He also constantly tells me how to do things as if I were working in Photoshop: "Use outside bevel instead of inside bevel. What are the drop shadow settings."
I ended up just breaking up my render in pieces and putting it together in Photoshop so that way we have a level of communication that's common and so he had something he could play around with because he couldn't decide on the color of letters. He didn't like Bolts render :/ sorry man.
This is the final.
