Maxunderground news unavailable

can't shape merge..

I got a mesh imported as an iges (a nurbs was in there), I converted it as a quads poly with a nice NurbsToPoly script. I then made some manual editions to weld some holes and flatten some surfaces (with graphite modifier).
Now I encounter a problem, I cannot ShapeMerge the mesh, I pick the shapes, they appear in "operands" but dont show on the mesh..
any ideas?

make sure the shape is closed

it is a closed shape, I re-created it to make sure..
I exported the easiest/smallest of the meshes and saved it in a link if you want to have a look:

I had already try boolean with a cylinder but it didnt work, I think boolean needs 2 enclosed mesh.

I also tried with the FreeForm shape but didnt really mastered it..

it is strange that the ShapeMerge doesnt get it right, it s a great tool!

I was trying to delete the polys on the mesh and to create a new plane that I would ShapeMerge and attach back to the original mesh.
I noticed something also strange:
I can shape merge on the back of the new created plane but not on the front (of the same plane).

you cant shape merge something unless its directly on top of the mesh. if its cutting half way through at outter edge - it aint gonna work

(I did the ShapeMerge in the front view where in completely intersects, the screenshot shows only from the perspective view)

In between I tesseltate the polys to add edges, checked with the Smoothing Groups (clear all + auto SG) and check to convert to editPoly or to EditMesh but nothing worked out.. it s a mistery
