Can't Export a PNG? :(
show user profile  martinchristov
Hey guys!

I recently purchased a very cool 3D model, but apparently due to some strange settings I am unable to export PNGs from it :(

I just get a blank export.

Since screenshots always explain it better, I uploaded a few here:

PNG only seems to work if I select "Optimized Palette", but this doesn't support transparency ... which is the reason I want PNGs in the first place.

It would be very very Great if someone could give me a hint ...

Thanks !
Martin

Why dont you try saving as a tga?
Have you checked if there is a alpha in the render anyways?

It could just be that what you're looking at is basically a full-alpha image. Drop it into photoshop and have a look at it with a bit more depth, rather than Windows Photo Viewer.

Hey! Thanks for the fast response!

Idiotforaliving, I just tried exporting TGA as you suggested. I got 2 files: one was completely BLACK (I think it was the one which should have been transparent), and the other one was OK, but with the background in it :( so No alpha...

Dave, I did try to open with Photoshop, but its just EMPTY!!

If you click the this button...

...does it show the render's alpha channel? or just black?

It is also very possibly the output gamma settings in the customise window set to something wacky. ...but that is a long shot.

Your image doesnt contain a alpha. The reason you got 2 tga files is you enables the split alpha setting in te image setup.
What kind of material have you used in the scene?
You can also(but this isnt very good) disable the background and then use photoshop select color to extract your image?

Idiotforaliving, if you check out the screenshots you will see the material is quite complex. Photoshop select color will not work well at all for this one.
I think the material has some Xray effect ...
