Camera Map + Render To Texture = Squish UV's
show user profile  Dave
Hey all, encountering some oddness that i've not come across before. I use the Camera Map (object space) modifier quite a lot, for rendering out the view, painting on it in photoshop, then projecting it back onto the model. But I've just come across some squished UV's, that won't alter.

My initial thought was to put an unwrap on it myself, to ensure that the UV's were correct... but doing the render to texture just seems to screw it back into squished mode. Anyone have any ideas? As i've said before... I use this method a lot, and have never had this problem before.

I'm probably missing some details out... just fire all questions at me if you need a better understanding. Cheers.

Have you tried setting the render/safe frame proportions to square....proportions? it looks like its trying to squeeze the regular 640x480 proportions into a square therefore making it thinner than it appears. Never even seen that modifier before so cant be sure.

... God damnit. I did actually think of that, but neglected it due to already using this method on this very same model/scene/file and having it work. Maybe it didn't though... maybe i've been projecting squished texture back on without realising! (lots of hair)... ah well, Thanks for that!

Edit
Just checked the last character I used this on, and I suppose luckily enough I had set the render size to a square resolution. Wonder if that means I've been screwing everything before it up!
