BVH Files changing a character
show user profile  daddison
I created a rigged character and then recorded some BVH files using my Kinect and whenever Load the BVH files it completely changes how my character looks. Is there a way to stop it from doing that?

It's quite simple, really.
First, load the BVH animation onto a default biped, not the one you use for your characters.
Next, in the Motion Panel, under the Biped rollout, click the Save file icon. Save the animation as a .BIP file.
Lastly, load the file onto your character's biped using the Load File button in the Biped rollout (don't use the motion capture rollout for this).

That's it, now the animation should apply to your biped without changing its structure.

It's not weird, it's just that BVH animation files contain information about bone scales and biped structure along with the animation itself, while BIP animation files contain only the animation. You have to get rid of that extra data to prevent your biped structure from changing.

Makes sense. Not weird. Good to know.

Thanks to Handelo. I was looking for an answer to this also.
It never occurred to me to ask about it on this forum. (and that is weird)

Kurt have you set up the Kinect yet?
I'm going to finally get to it this week.
