bump map not appearing in render
show user profile  yanki
hi all,

i made a model in adobe illustrator and imported it into 3ds max 2009. it was imported as editable spline and i applied bevel to make it 3d. now when i apply material the bump parameter is not visible in the render.

the same material when applied to any 3d object made in max appears perfectly. but the same material is not applied to the model i imported from illustrator. if i change the color or the material it appears in the render only bump is not visible. i use noise or cellular in the bump slot. yet, it doesn't appear in my model.

what needs to be done?

kindly help.

when i apply the material with bump, in the rendered image, there is no bump but the object remains smooth.

well i don't know if the object has uvw coordinates. i did apply uvw map modifier though. basically this i imported the shape from adobe illustrator and applied bevel/extrude to make it 3d.

but when applying the material the bump does not appear. i guess this has to do something with the shape being imported, although other 3d object show bump from same material.
