Yet another building my computer... actually, just one for Stabby.

So I'm going to be expanding my cockpit two-fold in the next 4 months or so.

I'd like a dedicated, stand-a-lone machine that I can run the Unreal Development Kit comfortably on. And the other machine I'll be investing in is either a sound-system/recording-booth/DJ-setup - more of a work in progress.

My question is this...
I'd like to easily be able to fire files from one PC to another. Medium poly, rigged, and textured models will go to the UDK workstation. Wav's, Oggs's, Mp3's, and various other audio based files will be going from the main pc to the audio workstation and back and forth.

What's the best method for connecting the three together and having absolute ease/shortest waiting times for transferring files from one to the other?

USB3 was my first idea. Then I pondered a LAN/ethernet solution. Then I realised I really don't know so I made this thread.

Well you're out of luck since theres nothing too fancy you need to set up for that, just a regular gigabit lan should get the files across faster than you can walk from one computer to another :) (for reference the transfer speed will be up to 125MB/s)

For the management itself you're going to have to decide on which computer is the primary storage for what and share out a directory for easy access. Alternatively set up an automatic sync between mirror directories on the computers so you can have local access from any of them, i guess it depends on how much hdd space are you willing to waste.. as a side bonus it would serve as an automatic backup too
