Put bone animation to object?

Hi all,,

I have this weird question. I want to animate an object/human using bones. But when its animated i want to delete the bones, and still keep the animation. Is this posible?

Not that I'm aware of; that would defeat most of the purpose of the skinning procedure (which is, to have a mesh and rig that can be used over and over with numerous animations). You can safely hide the bones, though.

But then i have these problems. I need to export all to an .X file. But when i have these modifiers:
Unwrap uvw, and Physique, i get this when i export it (using panda):

Animating is then just working nice, but skin is messed up.

When i delete the Physique modifier, i get this:

Skin is working as it should be, but the animation is ofcourse not working.

How to solve this then?

P.s. It does work when i animate without bones (so without Physique ;))

It just occured to me, there is a way - I think it might be the Point Cache modifier? Someone should know better.

Also, Skin = what makes the model move. Technically, it's a newer, better version of the now-defunct and horribly glitchy Physique. Weighting vertices and making the mesh move with the bones is called "skinning". The colors that are partially working in the second image are textures ;)

I knew what textures where :P But now i read back my post i noticed to that i typed skinn xD
But im gonna look for a little tutorial about the Skin modifier ;)

Tnx i hope that the skinn modifier wil work :D

Ok, ive used the Skinn Modifier, but i get the same result as the first image. The texture is not working :(

Any other idea's?

P.s. It looks good in 3DS, but it starts bugging when i export it ;)

Well, as has been said, make sure that UVW modifier is below the Physique/Skin. But beyond that, I'm not sure - I'm not a game developer ;) Hopefully someone else will know. It sounds like an export/format issue.

Did you unwrap your model properly? it looks not
Make sure you get a stack like this :

Physique (or skin)

Did you try on top of your stack a reset x-form when exporting to panda?

Yes, my stack is just like that. Ill trie the X modifier as soon as im home (@ school now) Tnx for the tips already.

Ok, i'm home now, and ive tried the X-form thing. This is what i get now:

The texture is working as it should be. and the black arm/bone you see is moving. Only the skinn isn't moving with it.

any more tips?

My tip is to post your question on the Darkbasic Pro forum (or whatever software you happen to be using). This isn't a 3dsmax problem.

I have to agree - if the model works fine in 3D Studio, and renders fine in the built-in renderer, there's likely nothing within 3D Studio that can fix this; it's literally perfect, right up until export. The issue is in the exporter, or in DarkBasic.

I'm downloading the DirectX SDK right now. It should come with an DirectX vieuwer (to open .X files) and an Texture editor. Hope that i will get some progress out of that.

Also do you know an other exporter then Panda?

P.s. the programme im using is Dark Basic Pro ;)

Ok, ive opened it with the Direct X viewer, and i've uploaded the Log file. Does someone understand it?


Hope someone has more information.


P.s. Im heading of to England in a few hours. I hope i'll be back in 24 hours ;)
