Fantastic work Bobby.
h**p://img.photobucket.com/albums/v322/bob9909/_DSC2552.jpg - What wb did you use for this. Looks nice, the blue feel and the skin tones.
Hey Bobby I need some help. Share how you market yourself. Made people know about your work. Did you print an demo album kind of thing to show.
Sorry, but am a little stuck with this. Been telling people, but somehow the response is cold :/

Hey, thanks for the nice comments :)
All my pics are shot in raw and then white balance set to auto in camera raw, then edited if needed. Color changes are done in raw using the hue / sat and lumi sliders in the color panel as well as the highlight shadow color balance tab, in this one I think the highlights are slightly blue and shadows orange, but only subtle change. I haven't got this down to a science yet, sometimes I just can't get my colors right, other times they turn out quite nicely.
As far as marketing, I don't, I did register my business but never really pushed forward with it, this was the third wedding I have done this year and they have all been for friends, with very little money involved. I've done a few other photo sessions as well, but generally I have been avoiding doing as much as possible.
I don't enjoy doing weddings and would rather not have to do another one for quite some time =P But I do get quite a few requests to do them and I guess it is just word of mouth, I've never really gone out of my way to advertise it, but after doing my first one and putting the photos up on face book I've had quite a few requests.
I've made friends with other wedding photographers who if they are busy have offered to refer work to me (which I have declined at the moment) and also store owners, photo labs, hair dressers and make up artists, all of which would be willing to send work my way if I wanted.
I guess it helps being in a small town, but really it is all about networking with the right people and also getting a good portfolio together. which you can't really do until you have done a couple of weddings I guess, I think friends weddings are the best place to start if you are confidant, or second shooting for another pro might be a safer why to get experience.
I didn't know any pros who would let me tag along when I was starting out, my first wedding I did earlier this year was planned a few years in advance and It took me that long till I was confidant to do it, and it wasn't perfect but not bad either for a first attempt.
If you want to ask any more specific questions I'd be happy to help you but I am far from a professional, I have in fact been fighting to do as little photo work as possible as it stresses me out too much :S

Thanks Bobby for the inputs and thoughts. I will follow up and that.
I always thought photography was one of your "liked" professions :)

Hey, here are a couple of photos from our local Anzac day celebration (ww1 remembrance day) that I took yesterday

Instead of using photobucket for hosting I have decided to try using my own website, so if you click on any of the above images you will be directed to a larger version in my gallery.
Also, I have been testing the PS6 beta and have used it for all of these, I quite like the changes so far to ACR7

I know I haven't been giving this thread much love this year, and really, I just haven't been doing that much photography. But here is a little update from a photoshoot yesterday with my usual model (she's not my wife, just a friend =P)
Cheers, hope you like em!
