Thanks inxa, I'm quite fond of that shot :)

I recently purchased and old 1970's era (I think) canon FD 50mm f1.4 S.S.C lens off ebay with a re-engineered mount so that it would fit my camera and focus to infinity! You wont see too many of these old girls being used these days (can't work on most modern cameras, though I suspect they will get a new life with a lot of micro 4/3 folks and the new wave of EVIL cameras from other manufacturers)

Anyway, here are some test shots with the lens taken on my olympus E3.
It is pretty pointless to try and judge the quality of a lens from down sized and sharpened shots, So I will just say that, though these all look pretty good, It is rather soft, but combines an interesting mixture of decent high frequency detail while larger details get more blurring. Quite a nice effect for portraits really, saves on doing it in post! ;)

Anyway here are a few of the shots, I can't wait to do a portrait shoot with it :D

The one aspect of the lens that these pics do show off nicely is its beautifully smooth bokeh! :D
can't wait till I can get my hands on a nokton 50mm f1.1 or get to try a noctilux 50mm f.95 *drools*
Cheers

That's a pretty old lens there.

Love the first and the last 2 shots. No clue what the fan shot is :)

How did you manage to get such a feel exposed feel in the kid shot. Lovely eyes :)

Yeah, nice smooth dof.

they where just test shots, the fan was just there. Didn't say they were meant to be good just to show off the sharpness and contrast.

As for the feel, a bit comes from the processing and a bit from the way the lens renders the image.

Here are two shots last night having a go at some light painting stuff

first is a sparkler circle the second was a burning fire ball made into a sphere

hope you like em :)

*ps what ever happened to the favorites post section?

Excellent set of portraits Bobby but it is the Carl Zeiss that is a winner here :)

Love your cross processing on the 2nd to last portrait but wish there was more detail/sharpness to her right eye.

Hey,

Cool shots.

Did you shoot it as a formal paid shoot, cause the photographs are seriously quality output. You should start working on weddings, portraits, seniors (I think you must be working on this, so ignore it ;) )

What post have you done. Which software do you use for post.

I do not like the one where they use beer glasses (I think) as props. The b/w's are very nice.

It never gets enough taking kid pics isn't it. (forgot the name, sorry) I never get such stable shots indoors with kids, must be due to my camera limitations even when using 400 ISO and burst mode.

My fav - The first b/w photograph.

Lol, at Garp, ok, that's getting edited out before printing :)

Thanks for the comments guys, was really looking to get some feedback on these shots before printing. Thanks :)

@TheGangsta - do you mean the lens is the winner or the shots of the lens? The lens is awesome one way or the other :)
Glad you liked the cross process, I posted it at dpreview and people thought there was something wrong with their monitors! :S

Which ones do you think need more sharpness in the eyes? It could just be the low res versions the details don't show to much, or maybe I have to do some selective sharpening with photokit sharpener. But there is a stupid amount of detail at 100% crop, I'll post a sample in a bit

@inxa - Thanks mate

Nah, these aren't payed, nor am I doing any paid work yet. But I am working up to it and definitely intend to get a serious business going doing these things in the future :)

Post processing that has been doing.

I first edited them in photo raw, then for the color ones they were put through alien skins exposure plug in to match cross processed kodak royal gold 400 film. The the last black and white was put through silver effex plug in.
All have soft focus effects as well as wrinkles and removed and eyes and teeth brightened.

I have to agree that that first black and white one is my favorite too. It will get an extra large print :)

Cheer guys

Edit:

a 100% crop from her left eye in the 4th picture down, most of the shots have at least this level of detail in the eyes, some have more detail in the blokes eyes.
