Blizz contest - Chaos Orc
show user profile  Vim
******UPDATE ON PAGE 4******

Well I WAS going to keep my cards close to the chest on this one and work in absolute stealth, but Paradox braved it (it'll be cool to track progress if more people are involved) and I realized that's not how we roll up in MF, so...

The basic premise is an big ol' Orc who's been corrupted by demons blood yada yada, big weapons, lots of armor, the planets will thusly align.

You can find the original concept art athttp://www.sonsofthestorm.com/warcraft_samwise012c.html#gallery
(obviously I'm taking my own twist in certain areas, but it's merely a overall concept)

No hints on the final scene yet. I do have a composition in mind, time permitting, but it can be submitted as as stand alone character.

Closing notes:
-Tons and tons left to do. especially want to add more detailing on the armor.
-I do have the basic body modeled out, I'll post that up later.
-Im keeping the armor very crisp, chunky and clean deliberately. When I get things closer to being done and I know the pose, I'll start to bash it up, don't fret.

Great work! Obviously not as good as mine... *cough* :P

I love the style, you've really nailed the concept. Good luck!

Very nice so far. I think I'm the only one working on an image for the contest that's not related to warcraft. I doubt I'll actually find the time to finish though.

Good luck with the contest. I look forward to seeing this one finished.

very cool
but there's something with the knee armor
all the other pieces have some emblems or insignia (all fantastic by the way)
the nee needs something more
love the sword and the style of the head
although the head seems (my opinion) like it is low poly and the body is higher
probably just me
great concept either way
good luck in the contest

Ya that's kinda why I didn't post the body up, it's pretty low res still, haven't done and real work on it, other than just getting it setup so I could model the armor on top of him. Same idea with the head, it doesn't have a great deal of detail (yet).

Agree on the knee platings, I think the whole armor set needs more detailing as I said and the leggings in particular stood out as bland when I finished them.

So here's the body, pretty low res as you can see, I'll get to it soon enough. So much to do, so little time. One month and 2 weeks, yikes! :(

One thing I wanted to capture is that somewhat "short look" from warcraft 3 (don't ask me why, but it's a big part of warcraft in my mind's eye. In reality this fellow likely stands 8-10 feet tall, he's just so bloody huge he almost looks short when out of context (which while I won't tell, is an issue I'm going to address in my final composition :P)

cool
the straps are they for the boots or the shin guards?
if they are for the guards, only the top one looks like it is attached to the guard
pin the lower ones to the guard, right now they just look like they wrap around the leg
looks good though
can we see him with the armor on thus far?

Nice to see more ppl taking on this contest :)

I like it so far and I know its pretty early so I won't crit much at this point.
Just one thing, I know u said u wanted the armor crisp and stuff and I dig it, xcpt for the part that it changes it's angle in the middle so sharp, its a bit too sharp in my taste.

Realy nice modelling man! Think his head looks great but his arms and upper body are too human-like at least the skin should be more green (but i know its early days!)

Im going to hopefully get some more armor detailing done today (across everything), but this stuff takes a while. I'll post up a full body+armor later on this afternoon.

That is extremely well done, it reminds me of the blademaster from wc III, keep it up! :)
