[Blender doodle #03] - Mobile phone
show user profile  Nik Clark
Today's exercise, modelling to accurate scale in Blender. I used a micrometer to measure the bits on my phone and finally figured out how to set the units in Blender so it cooperates.

I'm quite happy with the wall texture.

It's amazing what a person will do to avoid spreadsheets.

Excellent texturing and lighting and camera work.

Reckon the button at the bottom of the screen's rounded edge is a bit tight, could be wrong, just looks a little pointy. Of course I'm just being picky, can't have a comment with only praise.

Clayton, I just checked all my emails. Nothing from you there! Try my hotmail if you can't get through to me on gmail, or message me on FB.

Thanks for the kind words on the picture. It was a bit of fun this afternoon. I know it's not perfect, I haven't quite got the hang of Blender yet, but I'm fairly pleased with it for what it is.

Na dude, I was referring to your render man. You have an unread email. Haha. My lame attempt at being comedic.

Derp! Ha ha. I am thick sometimes. That's my son's regular email of "have you ordered me a Mac book for school next year yet?" that I get most evenings.

Damn that is superb Nik.. Everything from the subtle detail on the wall, to the slight warmth in the shadows under cool lighting.. Is there dust and fingerprints on the screen?

I have to ask, what was the lighting setup is it an hdri?

Nice work Nik! I agree that the wall looks really nice, fantastic details!

I'm curious of how at home you feel with Blender by now. How close are you to leaving Max in favour of Blender instead? If you were to start up your own 3D business within this year or the next, would you go for Blender or fall back to 3ds Max as your main application?

Nice, you have a very "photographic" style, can see the TLC you put in.

...not as good as your Humbrol paint pots / satellite render tho' ;)

Why did you put "Thorpe Hamlet" when you could've put "Thorne Saurabh"?
