whats with the weird camera angle, its like the camera man is passing out in every render i see lately

as for the render itself.. the model is lacking a lot of detail, everything just kind of blends into everything else, partially because of the waxed leather you decided to cover the car with.

A definite contender for the CGI quote of the year!

The lighting setup looks decent, what you`ll have to do is post some screengrabs of your wireframe mesh and get some constructive feedback on developing that further..

Interesting choice of vehicle though. What made you choose the 'citi' variant over the more well known MK1 model?

(Sorry for the O/T - VW enthusiast!!).

thats how you do it

>>I know exactly what u mean with the blending but i'm having a bit of trouble correcting that. any advice on that?

Well seeing the wires wouldnt hurt but from the looks of it you have extended a lot of pieces that are supposed to be separate meshes from the main mesh and some crucial edges are just missing. The materials arent helping either, the car paint is way too soft on reflection angles and glossiness, almost looks organic. Could possibly blame it in low density GI but from the looks of it you dont have any.

At the danger of derailing this thread!! What you driving zee?

I had a 1975 Beetle that i bought when i was 14, resto'd at a massive cost(!!!) then sold when i split with my ex-gf to pay the bills. :(

Then me and the wife bought a 1982 MK1 GTI, lovely car. Had to sell that as we got pregnant!!

Now we have 2 (yes 2!) MK4's, a TDI and a 1.8T GTI (mine!!!).

:)

Oh, turbo, don't know if you saw my golf model? Its in my gallery. I wont post a link so as not to completely ruin your thread!! :)

@ Westcoast13 Well a guy asked me to build one for him cause he wanted to do some work on his golf and wanted to see what it looks like. Thank goodness his not an experienced 3D modeler now that I see all the faults in this thing. Oh and I'd love to see your golf model uh just need to figure out where to find it...

@Mr_Stabby I pasted the direct link from photobucket but it still only shows the link lol. Read the FAQ but don't know what I'm doin wrong. I'm new here so I'll use that as my excuse ^^

Oh well I have to admit my heart wasn't really into this car so I kinda rushed it in the end and I cant meshsmooth for sh%t so it's low poly. Dunno why but triangles never smooth correctly and polymodeling with quads only leaves you with too much geometry and eventually bumps and lumps on surfaces. Argh I gotta get Rhino so I can start using NURBS! My next project is a Ferrari 250 GTO, started about 4 hours ago. Love the critisism I'm getting here so I'll definitely post it later
