Bitmap deformation in 3ds max
show user profile  magarlick
Hi all. I have created a plane in 3ds max with a simple bitmap applied to it. Does anybody know how to deform the bitmap along similar lines to the pinch filter in Photoshop? So that the middle of the bitmap is pinched radially inwards. Can't see which modifier might do this trick. Perhaps a plane is not the right geometry to use?

Thanks.

You could theoretically do it with some uv unwrapping.

Divide your plane a few times and apply a uv unwrap modifier.

Open uv editor.

Click on the middle vert(s) and turn on soft select. Adjust soft select. now scale so it's spherized (but the borders are intact).

Collapse stack.

Done.

P.S. Easier said than done.
