Biped scene animation

I'm new to biped animation and I need some help.
I have a large scene, where I imported a couple of characters, and it seems tricky to move them to a certain point in the scene and to animate them using .bip files. When I import a .bip, that repositions my character to default file's animation position... instead of orienting the animation by the character's current position. And also, when I enter in the figure mode, that repositions my character to it's default position.

I used to move the characters to a specific part of the scene, by grouping the biped and meshes... I'm sure I'm doing it wrong, but I found nothing that explains how it's done - I found only totally different results.

How do you do when you have to distribute and animate the characters on a specific part of the scene? Do you have some tutorial that covers all my problem??

1 - Try the 'move all' button.
There might be more to it than that... can't remember.

2 - Why do you need to go back to figure mode?

@markoid - Going back to figure mode seems the best way to reset to the original posture.
