| best mobile coverage? |

Hi chaps
I'm interested in an ipad soon, a 3g one where i can top up for £10 or £15 a month whenever i choose for web access. There's about 3 service providers in the UK. How do i know which one is best for my area? is there a comparison web site somewhere advising me the best for me? other wise how am i to know? they all cost the same.

thanks Bish, but the trouble with that web site is that the phone companies themselves give a schpiel on their own coverage in the UK. which, surprisingly, every one sounds rosy. i was kind of hoping for Independent views.

DON'T GO WITH ORAGNE!!!!!!!
What ever you do, seriously don't i'm with them now and the signal is shit everywhere. From what I've read Vodaphone seems to have the widest coverage.

DO NOT GO WITH VODAFONE (even though they have by far the best signal)

why not Nik? i'm only interested in a month to month no obligation pay as you go top up deal, so a strong signal is probably my best bet.
thanks for the site nik, all companies seem to give good coverage.
so my next question is about strength and signal -
even though coverage is good, how can i be sure of the strongest signal from then providers on offer?

I live on the sussex kent border and work in Brighton. The signal with orange is fine in the city (brighton) but as soon as i get out of the city and start driving home I loose signal and get 1 bar at best most of the time. From what I can gather Orange is fine if your in the city but if you live/spend much time in the country side in the south east be prepared to have poor signal

LOL. there's only about 1 left now. they all sound shite.
is 3g signal and mobile phone signal the same or bundled up together? again, is one company better for 3g than another? ultimately it's the best mobile internet signal im after
sorry fellers, this is all new to me

I am having problems with Vodafone.
1) They over-billed me by £1200 pounds over a two year period, and refuse to pay it back.
2) I specified that the phone I want should work with the BBC iPlayer. The phone they gave me is not compatible.
3) The battery life has dropped to five hours from a full charge, but Vodafone count the battery as an "accessory", which it clearly is not, taking into account the literal meaning of "accessory".
4) They sold me the phone, and assured me that it would be updated to Android 2.X. They have now said they aren't going to bother with the update.
5) I have been banned from the Vodafone forum for repeatedly trying to get answers about these issues. The forum is purely decorative. The only answers are from customers, not Vodafone support staff, and they delete any posts that are even slightly negative about Vodafone.
So, a year into the contract, the phone doesn't work for a whole day, and doesn't do the one thing I specified when I bought it. Vodafone refuse to do anything about this situation, so I tell people what they do.
Also, they have done the same to my sister-in-law as me with the over-billing.
They are thieving tossers. Fuck Vodafone.

"3" are good. They have a 15GB/month data plan (contract) that should do you or smaller pay as you go thingies.
