Hi all,

I've been working on this for a few weeks now on and off over my lunch breaks.

Below are a number of renders showing my progress (See my blog for full details).

The design is all my idea, this is just a personal project.

Any comments and crits please?

Thanks

You're going to set fire to the ceiling.

coming on nicely, but so far your whites and ceramics need more 'whiteness' and vibrancy, even if you still want to maintain the mood you currently have. as they are you wouldn't sell the image. everything is grey and 'dirty' looking.

cheers Strat, yea agree completely. My tiles are meant to be white. I can't figure out why they are rendering like that.

Any ideas?

If it helps im using mr, and the default a&d clazed tile mat

The bath is meant to be white too.

white rooms generally tend to pick up whatever coloured bounced light is happening at the time. i dont know MR, but i do know how to minimise it in VR.

Also, dont worry about it. Post is a wonderful thing that is an essential to finishing off the final visual.

I really like the tiles. What material did you use? or was it a custom material?

So going to be reading through the shader and colour correction section today, see if i can figure something out too.

@beebeecivic: They're just the default mr glazed tiles material.

Thanks for all teh comments so far guys, i should have some new render later this avo after lunch.

small update from over lunch:

Managed to go some way to improving the white/creme issue by adding mrSkyPortals at the windows.

Added a towel rail too. I know the towel sucks it's only temp :-)

Anyone care to share the best way to texture a bath mat, so you get teh shag pile effect?

Any comments as always welcome.

Thanks

Looking better. Why is the ceiling orange though? Also try increasing the intensity of the light until the whites are as white as they'll go without blowing out. Alternatively you could adjust this with some sort of exposure control.

cheers for the comment Ross.

I was playing around (and failing) with a wood texture on the ceiling, hence the orange :-) I want to get a white washed wood effect for the ceiling.

I'll try upping the lights, and tweaking the exp settings too.

Thanks

Hey Rob, When you mean default mr material do you mean the Promaterials or the Arch and Design Materials?

Ive been having trouble with the Promaterials whereas I am not able to pull out the list of extensive materials.

Thanks again

btw im using 3dsmax2010
