Barrel smoothing groups
Hi all, I am having a problem on this gun I modeled in max,It seems that zbrush destroys smoothing groups , and I keep trying to take it into Zbrush to smooth out that area I have circled, and to soften the rim of the gun a bit. In 3ds Max they are just smoothing groups hitting eachother, but even when I use to Import and Crease tool from Zbrush 3.1 It keeps destroying my edges. How can I smooth this edge of the Barrel without destroying the flat parts of it.
That import and crease tool seems like garbage.. When I press undo it adds creases to every line, its just messed up or something.
This is what Zbrush does to my edges when i reimport. it totally destroys the edge work my smoothing groups were doing. But the problem is that the smoothing groups on the seam where I circled are what are causing the problem..
Does this make sense to anyone? Thanks for helping if so.

Post the lowres wireframe mesh.
Its obviously an issue with your mesh topology.

Its pretty clear to me its smoothing groups causing the seam, there are literally 2 smoothing groups meeting there because I want that edge, just not on the part circled.

In ZBrush, smoothing groups doesn't really matter.
To get the sharp edges you either have to sculpt it sharp or have a topology that will allow for the edge to be sharp even after smoothing.

also i don't think the crease on import plugin works for 3.5
if you're using 3.5 that is
worked fine in 3.1
