Bad guy

I absolutely need Maxforum Fronats power to improve.
I'm posting my character to improve it the best I can.
The idea is to do something cartoony and evil looking with a little vein of dumbness.
Portfolio target. Done in Max and Zbrush.

looks like a great start, what's your end goal visually? photo real or stylistic/cartoon?

i would say model wise he's lacking a good amount of detail from the neck down compared to the neck up.

Hi mate, i like it.
Bolts is right but i think you are focussing on the head first right ?
But do take a look at the body posture, now it feels as if his head is on backwards because his chest looks like his back (if that makes any sense).

I'd love to see this more detailed and better lit & shaded.

good luck

got some nice masses going on there although some of the proportions could use some adjustments
look at ref of peter cushing or vincent price- for the expression maybe frankie howerd
perhaps get a skull under there- stylise the skull to your character and sculpt so the skin is matching the underlying reference- dig under the cheekbones especially
lips thin with age as do the eyelids- your sculpts eyelids are thin but the lips aren't- causes confusion
also the wrinkles deepen and the outlying fat deposits spread out and drop slightly
ears might be a little low
there would be a bunching of skin caused by the raised eyebrow and wrinkles above both eyes
needs a more pronounced eyesocket- which would help anchor the monocle
needs a suggestion of stubble maybe too
the upper eyelids needs a fold or two and crows feet
try geometry eyelashes or zspheres- or planes with an opacity
don't forget the sterno mastoid
think about dumping the nasal labial fold- i don't think it suits the gaunt look- that facial element being more prevelant in fuller faces, certainly rounder cheeked faces

Sometimes being bad is also good. If you are having a role of bad guy then it really helps you to make yourself more better. Electrical Services Perth

Thanks everybody. Actor references you suggested were great, k-tonne.
I want to stay in a cartoon style. So I added a bit of volume to the zygomatic and eye areas. I shifted the torso and raised the upper eyelid to suggest a conceited expression.
I also gave more light and detail to the jacket, thinned the lips and worked on the sternocleidomastoideus. Bit of comping in PS.

I really like this model so I'm going to be picky (if that makes any sense).

His left cheek looks a lot redder than the right, though that could just be the shadows/lighting.

His mustache looks like Playdoe, give it some texturing in z-brush.
His mole looks like it's painted on (though there's no reason why it's not, considering the era), maybe smudge the edges and make it less uniform.
His brow wrinkles could be a LOT more defined. Also push the brow outwards between the creases.
His fringe could be neater as it would suit the period and give a more clinical feel, that would accentuate his persona.
His lips could still be less fleshy (as K-tonne said).
The collar of his jacket could have sharper, triangular edges to match his "bad guy" persona.
The outer edge of his eye droops, giving him a duller, dumber expression (as you intended) but, for some reason, gives him a softer, less "bad guy" air. I would push it inwards and squint it more.
Finally, do everything K-tonne said and you'll have one hell of a fine model.

[edit] I see from the your gallery you've already finished it. Anyway, Looks good.
