My backgrounds are showing through my models when i render

I need some help. I am rendering some NASCAR models. When I render you can see my background through my cars. I can't figure this out and nowhere seems to be a real help. Thought I would come to the pros. I am posting a link with a sample of what is happening. Anyone with some ideas, please, please send them my way.

You are using your environment bitmap as the reflection image but that environment image is set to 'screen' therefore the reflection is positioned exactly in the same position as the background. best not use a background image, save it as a format that supports alpha channels and comp it in after the render is done

Now the sad part. I've had my 3ds max/Brazil for about 2 weeks and someone was kind enough to give me these models. I no pretty much nothing except for the sleepless nights of cramming all this information in, LOL. i figured out the environment and I've heard about the "alpha" channels (don't know how to use those). I've dug around about the reflection image and can't find anything about that. All that to say this, can you say it in a way that a 10 yr old would figure it out? Sorry.

alpha channles have nothing to do with it in this case.

How do you have the image in the environment map?
Is it an instanced map from your material edititor,..OR is it loaded directly into the environment map dialog?

I included my background/environment in the render tab under environment, locate the file and that's it. i'm running 3ds max9, with brazil.

Open enviro dialog.
Drag map name over to a material block in the material editor.
It will ask copy or instance,....say instance.

In material editor, the top of the dialog of parameters there will be a little window saying "screen"...change that to spherical.

great news and bad news. car is no longer see through, WOOHOO!, but background is messed up. looks like the window where i clicked "sphere" instead of full background. ok, next idea.

wait a minute, should the "texture" or "environment" be selected next to the mapping?
