Backburner without network
show user profile  zeefusion
Is it possible to run backburner without a network connection? I have just moved into a new house and I am without internet/router etc.

when loading back burner it cannot find a manager due to there being no network. Is there a way to run it locally. I am rendering on the same machine I am submitting from so its not a farm or anything.

Just need to submit about 20 jobs to run over night.

You can run manager on the same PC. I often do it to render several files.

That said, Backburner seems like witchcraft to me at times. One day it works fine, the next, nothing! However i blame that on my companies odd IT policies etc!

run manager
run server
they should auto-find eachother
submit renderjobs to network

you can even shut down the server if you need your system back and restart it after, it will continue the tasks

Hmm it is saying manager not found. I thought it was to do with not having a network but maybe its something else.

Westcoast13, have you tried this without a network cable plugged in? I usually do this as well but at the moment I have no network.

No I haven't. Think that might fix it then? I'm not at the office at the moment but i'll give it a whirl next time i'm in. I'll be interested to see if anyone can shed light on it otherwise though.

doublecheck your manager & server settings and set the ip-adress correct or localhost.
But usually if you tick the auto find on they should find each other.

Worst case, what version of backburner are you using ?
I had to revert to backburner 2008 a while ago for some reasons.
