Autumn forest
show user profile  Manolo
Hi there,

I'll have a few days off between xmas and new year's eve, and I was hoping to visit some reddening-yellowing forest, for I've never seen one.
It may be too late in the year, I have no idea. But if someone knows about such a place in the time given, please let me know.

Cheers!

Manolo

Here in the US, I've seen alot of color in North Carolina mountains, and alot of other places.

Pretty much any place with alot of forest trees that aren't evergreens.

It's got to be the right time of year though, it's probably to late. Color normally happens inbetween summer and winter, like september and october probably. Here in the US anyway.

Yeah, I thought so (being too late).
Since here in Barcelona seasons arrived quite late this year, maybe there was a chance. Autumn forests, northern lights, my next assingnments.
Thanks for the response, Daniel.

Cheers,

Manolo

Herfst means Autumn in Dutch.

Can't add any more info than that regarding the Summer to Winter period, haven't seen nothing but summer for 5 years. 500 Days of Summer was a shit film. Just thought I'd throw that in there.

@Manolo: So you've finally moved to Spain? Hey, that's great!
I spent a couple of weeks in Barcelona (almost 30 years ago, geez). I remember the night life being absolutely ferocious, in a very enjoyable way. Is it still the case?

As for the autumn colors, I don't know if it's the same everywhere but around here, it lasts for about two weeks, at most. Then it all turns a dull brownish hue until spring.

It's because, y'know, the leaves fall. Off the trees. Jeeeze man, get with the programme. Sidewalk, trash. Ford trucks, Apple Pies, Bald Eagles.

The best fall foliage is in Vermont but it's too late now.

We get some pretty nice fall foliage in northeast Ohio but way to late now... and in all honesty, not really a tourist destination. I have heard that Vermont is really nice and i know a lot of people who take weekend trips there to see it.

Thanks guys for your responses. Seems I'm out of cue for this year. Probably the next one.
Garp: Yeah, at last!!! Quite happy. It's a terrific city. And nightlife (and "daylife" too) is great. It's probably quite a different place now: Everyone says there was a huge transfrormation regarding the Olympic games of 2002. Time to come and see for yourself, don't you think?

Cheers,

Manolo

Over here it was green up until ~1 month ago when tree leaves basically formed into ice cubes and dropped on peoples heads. I never liked autumn anyway, or forests.. or plants in general.
