AutoCAD Mechanical 2010
show user profile  zeefusion
I just wondered, has anyone got AutoCAD Mechanical 2010 installed on a Windows 7 PC? I am trying to install it and I get the error "the system cannot open the file specified............acad.mst"

This is a brand new laptop, I have Googled and I cannot seem to find a solution. Nothing on Autodesk's website or in forums. Autodesk do say AutoCAD Mechanical 2010 is officially supported by Windows 7 64bit.

Official OS support is XP through Vista 64bit.

Are you installing as an administrator?

According to this it is supported.http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=14053691&linkID=9240897

Yep installing as admin, UAC off. All the usual steps taken. It just wont install.

Hmmhttp://forums.autodesk.com/t5/AutoCAD-Mechanical/Install-32-bit-AutoCAD-Mechanical-on-64-bit-Windows/m-p/2396793/highlight/true#M9043

"The installation of 32 bit AutoCAD Mechanical on a 64 bit version of Windows is not supported by Autodesk."

But it worked fine on XP 64
