Autocad Custom Hatches
show user profile  dcny30
Does anyone know how to create a custom herringbone hatch pattern? Google is useless and most of the cad forums are useless as well.

"Google is useless"

Well, I turned up this as the second result to my "custom hatch autocad" search in google:
http://www.ellenfinkelstein.com/acadblog/creating-custom-hatch-patterns/

It explained the process pretty well I thought.

Thank you, but I already came across that link. which I didn't find helpful. I have a herringbone pattern of a specific size. I inputted the new numbers however autocad doesn't see.

The only alternative is to do it manually.

If you paste up the numbers you entered, I'll give it a try on my version of autocad and see if I can recommend changes to make it work.

Any tips/help would be enormously appreciated.

This is the existing hatch pattern that i started out.

*BUTTEDHB, Butted herringbone parquetry
0, 0,0, .1,.1, .6,-.4
90, .5,-.6, -.1,.1, .6,-.4

I need each wood board to be 22" x 2.25"

I feel that there needs to be some sort of conversion of the actual numbers to the hatch numbers.

Will have to try this at home - I don't have admin privileges on my work pc.

Edit: I had a bit of a go at this last night. I have to admit, it's not as simple as I first thought - sorry if I came across as a bit condescending earlier! Will have another go later. I think it's a question of looking at the ratios between length and width of the panels.

I tried everything I could think of, but i just couldn't make it happen. I was able to get the right length and width but not the spacing and the pattern.
