Hi everyone!!!

Wondering if anyone here is familiar with this software, been playing around with the PL Edition today and found it really interesting.

Wondering about it's ability to handle animations and multiple markers on a single file.

I purchased a licence earlier this year as I used it at a trade show to show off some of our designs.

I have not used all the features like video, realtime lighting, but I set up a scene in Max with 6 products, some that were animated, and assigned them to multiple markers... we had all six markers on a rotating table and projected on the wall... the speed was very good (lighting is key), and they drew in a lot of interest.

As for an application, I'm still trying to find a use within my industry... its a bit of a gimmik really.

I take it it`s limited to how much geom your gpu can handle? How do complex models work out? Noticed the videos on the link don`t really `zoom in` on the models at all..

seems like you cant export it to ipad using the trail version, i don't have a webcam... don't really want to buy the thing, cant see myself using it.

Thanks guys,

Yeah can't see myself using it that much really, Chris you are right, the trial end PL editions don't export to iOS, only the professional editions seem to do that.

Geoff, thanks man, did you ever add audio to any of those animations? my client wants to have an audio track assigned te each of the animations.

I did not use the audio function either... yes you can have it trigger audio when you bring in a new marker...

Handling complex geom was not a problem, the speed worked well with 6 models (not sure of poly count) but they were imported from CAD so fairly high. What makes the files large and potentially slow is the size of the bitmap you bake to the models. I used 1024 which essentially makes each model 1MB in the file and I ended up with a 7MB file.

I have shopped around for other AR stuff, but this one seemed ahead in the market and (fairly) simple to get to grips with.

Great!!! yeah, I have also been looking around for other solutions and this one came as the most straight forward and simple tu use.

Thank you very much for the info!

Messed around with it for a while using AS3, FLAR Toolkit and Papervision. I hated it (but then I hate code in general)... My only recommendation is to find something other than the above mentioned to do this with because it was choppy and poor quality.
