Attention file.max is possibly corrupt. Would you like to resave?
Of course I would!! but you wont let me :( tried save selected, tried save as new name and in new location but still it wont allow me to save the file. Thanks Autodesk once again you have f*cked up my day!

Start Max, go to file->merge. Find your corrupted scene and select everything in that scene. Save your new scene. This version of your scene shouldn't be corrupt.

Also, if you have space, saved incrementally. I usually save a few parallel files in case something corrupts, especially on big projects.
