Hi guys, please help me with the following max issue.

I have a robot arm that has been animated using bones. At some point the arm must pick up a gun, make a couple of aiming movements and stop after +/- 4 seconds. My question is how can I attach the gun to the hand (at a specific point during the animation) art so that I don't have to animate the gun moving with the hand. This is driving me in sane!!!
