Attach cloth mesh to the body?
show user profile  Alex910

I have my character mesh and the clothes meshes. What are the methods to attach the clothes and to make them interact to wind and movements of my character? Any tutorials or documentation where to start from?

Thank you!

you first link the cloth as a whole to your mesh and make your animation. then you preserve the vertices that you want to follow that animation and simulate the cloth animation for the rest of the vertices

to be more specific -
preserve is like a passthrough, whatever happens below the cloth modifier gets preserved so you can skin or wrap it or just leave as plain static if its good enough with linking.

link to node links the specified group to the pivot of any object

surface wraps the verts to the nearest surface on the specified mesh

for cartoonish animation, the options above give reliable and easy results. For more fancy stuff though, its best to leave the cloth with no constraint and fully simulate its interaction with the character as a collision mesh.
