ATI vs Nvidia for a laptop to run 3D Studio Max and PS

What are your thoughts on graphics cards in laptops?
ATI vs Nvidia.

This is the laptop I'm thinking of getting to do 3D studio max and photoshop work. http://www.sony.com.au/product/svs15136pg

This should do the trick right?
Also I'm, upgrading to 12G of RAM.

i had ati, was a good gaming card. wouldnt work very well with vray gpu rendering or anything that supports cuda. Cuda is integrated with max plugins like fume & rayfire so its a wise option to go with nvidia.

If u were using say houdini or blender im sure ati would be supported using opencl and bullet.

edit: just realised this could have been put in youre other laptop thread

Ok cool.
Do you know much about running 3Dmax on a mac book pro using bootcamp?

I do like apple laptops but should I just stick to a PC laptop?
