ArchViz textures
show user profile  Dr. Jim
Lord....props to you archviz guys!
wtf is the deal with textures out there?
Googling, trying to find "good" seamless textures is ridiculous. Lord.....nothing but free scam sites.....and even if I manage to get someplace with some stuff its super hirez closeups of shit at a scale that wouldnt help much of anything.

So question: Where are the actual, good archviz textures at for sale? concretes,...metals....stuff like that. Not crap.

I use FilterForge quite a lot for generic hi-res tiling images. It's amazing because it's procedural, which means original! Which means I don't feel bad for ripping someone's photo.

A lot of the stuff you can get is certainly not photo-realistic, but some of it is, and many of the textures also come with their own normal/spec maps, which is just magical. Here's some examples:

Rock: (this one blows my mind hole)

The list goes on, it's fucking amazing. And all procedural, so you can just tweak shit, set the output resolution to whatever you want. BOOM. (I have a feeling I'm going to need to edit this comment heavily to get the formatting correct.)

Nope... but the links aren't clickable, sorry Jim! I'm too lazy to fix that.

not that I do a lot of arch viz but i pretty much accepted that I need to be the one to make a texture seamless.

Interesting there aren't more good texture packs for sale for this sort of thing!

There are tonnes of texture packs, the problem is most folk making them are just little guys like you or I, you'd only know of their stuff via word of mouth or if you happened to be looking at a certain forum at a specific period of time.

There's this one dude called Joost Vanhoutte who's got loads of stuff up on gumroad, all for free (donations obviously accepted). I recommend following him:

I don't think any of his texture packs are tiling, but it's still ruddy fantastic

Its basically a beefy version of crazybump.

- create seamless textures from 1 texture
- create seamless textures from multiple textures
- create bump, spec, normal, displacement from source image - with lots of depth controls and realtime lighting and surfaces to see how it appears in 3d

I dont know much else, It was on my PC when I started at my new job, I dont play with it much I just throw textures in so I can make them seamless and pump out some normals/displacements.
