Very nice lighting to explain your render and lighting setup. I do a lot of architecture stuff and have been trying to achieve a render of this style. As far as the design, I think its a little too minimalistic for my taste. But overall very nice.

thank u for the respond!

i use mental ray and the setup is always different (of course) but always the same workflow do heres a quick tutorial for mental ray interiors:

first i put in photometric lites (farea) to the windows at the exact size of the window. i set them to manual mental ray settings so if il change settings in the render/indirect illumin window it wont bother the farea! still in the mental ray ind illumin settings at the farea lite turn energy to 5 decay to 1,5-2 caustic to 0(at least i do that) and gi photons as u like (10k-30k..) ohhh and dont forget to set it to raytraced shadows!!!! set the intensity to to 1500(i think thats default anyway) and with test renders try to get a descent lighting by increasing the intensity. descent i mean thats reasonable for a room with no sunlite!(it should be pretty dark yet...)

then i set the sunlite:one mr spot with raytr shadows. i set multiplier like 1-5. 5 is too much 1 is too weak...try to get it!set area lites to disc and the radius somewhere between 0,1m and 2m(i usually use it 0,7-0,9) set the mr ind illumn settings to automatice. then go to the render window:ind illumin and turn gi on! (so far i only used fg) and play with multiplier and decay(decay should be between 1,3-2) if u need more bounced lites turn max bounces at fg settings to 1-3

but i think setting up materials are a bigger problem anyway! thanks for readin!

andre: thanks for the gud words!

catman: haha those chairs r the famous barcelona chairs from van der rohe and this house (the farnsworth house) is really furnished with those chairs...

thank u!

Nice simple renders... and I like the framing of each shot.

Only thing I spotted was that the underside of those chairs is looking a bit cgish due to repeating texture. I think the reality is the underside of the chair would probably look pretty messy with seams in the fabric etc.

inxa: im happy uve said that bout the first image cause thats my fav too!its so simple so neat like a cover of an architectural magazine!

bout the rendertimes: not much attal!i was workin on a 2,6 celeron for so long so i got used to usin cheap solutions! i use standard material wherever i could!(even on glass and metal materials such as chrome!) so the one with the couch was less than 1 hour and the one with the chairs a bit longer cuz ive been experimenting with that wall texture (mr-dgs material)

i usually use a lot of psp to get rid of blotches due to the bad render qualities. i allso oftne use saturation color correction (the good color balance i think is REAAAAAAAALY important in an interior image) and highlites/shadows but only like 10 minutes per still or even less...

johan: i am sorry friend but i dont really get wat ur sayin!i dont really see the problem with the chairs but i understand ur words and will luk after it in the future (i dont really see it tho..)

so thank u both!

The underside of a Barcelona chair doesn't look anything like that.

If you check out my post on the cat you will see that i really need help with the lighting. And i posted the file if you want to download it and then try and make it look better.

It would be awesome if you could help me cause i know that you are more than cappable. So if you have the time check it out.

Everyone likes it sugarcoated, but that doesn't make it the best way to take it.
