Anyone using maya want some pocket money?

Yeah, I know, wrong forum, most people here are Max users.

Here's the deal: I got some freelance work modelling clothing assets - low pay but lots of assets, so easy cash. Problem is, I can't seem to get the file to transfer to Maya without there being a problem. Open Collada seemed to be the way to go but... errors.

So after a week of back and forth I'm fed up and passing the buck.

If anyone wants easy money who uses MAYA send me an email and I'll fill you in on the details.

herfst1: Cmon dude, this is 101 in the industry. You will always be asked to switch between packages. Try fbx thats quite stable. Take the job mate, thats what its all about. I dont think Ive come accross a 'standard' job to-date, its always some crazy half cocked error you have to work-around. Keep going dude, its what gets you paid.

Unless its not worth it :S lol

I already tried fbx, collada, open collada. The trouble is the guy on the other end doesn't know anything at all about how all this works (his words, not mine). I believe it's the file and not the conversion that's the problem. Weird errors like the layers getting mixed up placing two skeletons ontop of each other (when I receive the file), layers getting deleted (when I send the file). Bones that weren't rigged getting deleted, etc. All this would be easy to trouble-shoot if I didn't have to wait 24 - 48 hours for a response, which is always along the lines of, "I don't know..."

Of course, if I were working in Maya then all of these issues wouldn't exist, and that's why I posted.

so install maya 30 day eval on your machine, run through the process locally.

when you have a conversion path you know works, you can talk him through it.

+ bill him a little extra for the consultancy :)
