| Anyone here using a Wacom Inkling ? |

It's a great piece of kit but i can't seem to change the color of the lines in Illustrator. I tried everything but they just won't budge.
Anyone have the same trouble or know how to fix this ? The Wacom forum had no answer and sent me off saying it must be an illustrator bug, Wa(nkers)com

I tried it out and apparently when I export to Adobe Illustrator CS6 I get a text import resulting in...well... text. The content is an xml file with a ton of coordinates but it doesn't show it as an image.
I searched the wacom site for more recent drivers but there seems to be no support for the inkling. Seems like you're better of then I am.

Got one of these about a week ago for an animation gig. At first I was pretty dissapointed with it, I guess I still kind of am, but most sketches come out pretty good if I keep the style nice and loose. straight lines come out hella wonky for some reasons, which makes sketching perspective drawings like cities and buildings really hard, but for character animation and sketches it comes out rather nice.
I found I could change the line colours in illustrator by making a new swatch color, selecting the lines and then changing their color by selecting the new swatch. works for me.
Also had the same problem as Setherial, imports into Ai as a text object. I got around this by exporting to a svg file first then importing to illustrator.
you can also get them into flash nicely by exporting from Ai as a swf, then importing into a flash library and breaking apart.

Just did some extensive testing and trying...
Seems that exporting from inkling to AI results in a drawing using a caligraphic brush. Nomatter what i try i cannot change the color of that brush. Changing the fill creates a fill (so a red fill on an P character fills the upper part with red or does a weird fill allover the character) Changing the stroke to red creates a red outline around the still black brush
Some more trying When i draw something in AI using a caligraphic brush i have the same trouble When i make a new calligraphiy brush i can change everything except the color of it :o When i change the fill or stroke i get the same problems as with the inkling sketch When i change the brush of a drawing to a normal brush i get 2 (ou)lines instead of 1 normal line. This means it is not an inkling problem but something i lack in AI or simply don't know.
Remains the fact that exporting this as a calligraphy brush makes not much sense to me.
Any thoughts on this by an AI guru. Someone who uses calligraphy brushes a lot and knows how to change colors on these ?
God i feel like a total AI noob :/

I wish I could help but Jing isn't allowing me to upload screencaps at the moment for whatever reason :(
All I do is open the .svg file, hold down the mouse button on the white arrow tool until I can see and select the white arrow with a plus, the group selection tool. I click and delete the background, then press CTRL + A to select my drawing and up the top I see two types of swatch colours. one is a hollow square, the other is filled in. I assume they correlate to fills and stroke colours.
I hold down shift and click on one to bring up a colour menu and change it to black.

Wowza..!
Finally some light at the end of the tunnel! I folowed your workaround and succes! Seems svg does not use the calligraphy brush but outlines the strokes. This will give me the control i need.
Thank you Jareu for following this and helping me out !! I owe you one.

I realize this is an old discussion, but I wanted to add my input for other people that end up here from Google like I did.
I finally figured out I could go to Object > Expand Appearance. Then you have objects rather than lines, and you can change the colour!
The lines have way more nodes than you could possibly need, so to clean that up, open the pathfinder and press the first button under Shape Modes. It looks like two boxes morphed together.
