Anybody got three or more monitors?
show user profile  Nik Clark
Hey all.

So, have you got three+ monitors running on two graphic cards? I've never done it and I've just been asked at work about it. Do you just stick two Nvidia cards in, install the Nvidia drivers and it works?

I really have no idea!

Thanks for any comments. Oh, and thanks to Davy for fixing the forum yet again.

Thanks Danny. I thought that might be the case! It seems you just need two Nvidia cards and "Nvidia surround" software.

Since this machine isn't going to be used for 3D stuff, we will probably go with an ATI solution, which can do the same with just one card.

Thanks!

Habit, really.

Also, iray doesn't support AMD/ATI cards at all.

But, mostly habit.

nvidia has an evil hold on 3ds max that is getting worse, latest example is replacing reactor with physx

cuda is legacy. switch to opencl or directcompute raytracer/physics & you'll be fine.

hopefully ad will address this in future.

I dunno. Part of Max is created by Nvidia, and it seems that it's only going to increase, if the plans I've seen are acted on.

except max. c4d is much cheaper & doesn't feature the go slow "enhancement".

I can't really stop production for people to learn another package, but I see where you're coming from.

We are tied into Max.

yeah. that's what they're counting on. that's why I suggested c4d, it's about as close to the same experience as you're going to get.

still, I need max users at the moment too as our tools haven't been ported to other packages yet.

hopefully the next version is a step in the right direction. I'm on the beta so will check it out shortly.
