Another Kitchen
show user profile  inxa
Hello,

After a long time have taken some pains (:P) and modeled a lot of things. I wanted to re-create a Ikea kitchen. Model wise I think I have reached pretty close, lighting wise I think I missed something or haven't understood the studio lighting and light setup they have used.

But had a great time working on this one. Many of the props on the stand have been modeled by me, which after a long took sometime.

Software - 3DS MAX
Renderer - Vray

Love to hear from you what do you think

Hope you all like it.

the wood grain seems to be a little too large and scale, and the rug looks a little funky/pixilated, but as usual the lighting is spot on for arch vis and the modelling and texturing and beautiful, well done man, always enjoy seein ur stuff.

Hey,

The wooden grain..hmm. Oh yeah I agree with the rug. I had no clue what I was thinking and why I high resolution rendered it before checking the rug.

I don't think I might be re-rendering it again :S

Thanks

Impressive work. lighting looks stunning as like always. great job !!!

things which i think can improve are :-

1. steel material - it looks dull to me. specially the area near the towel hanging rod.
2. rug - you should do something about it. doesn't look right.

what kind of setup are you using for lighting..... good old method or something new :)

cheers man !!!

Hey,

Where are you....invisible man

- Steel I think I have tried to give it a brushed steel look. I think more reflection could have looked good.

- Rug - sucks I know.

I will render it again in some days time for sure.

Setup's normal nothing different to it. Actually, I used my oldest setup for this. Vray lights in the windows, direct light for sun. Basic camera. Exponential 1.8, 1.8 if I remember correctly)

The tools hanging down from the work surface rail don't work. Probably the material. Too dull.

The rug stylised unevenness doesn't work for me. I'd just lay it flat.

Otherwise, awesome, as usual.

The extracter fan housing should probably be stainless steel, rather than matt grey (practicalites for cleaning)

Almost finished !

That rug is shameful when compared to your standards inxa *shakes head* :O

And my initial thought when seeing this was "ah that's another nice WIP image" mainly because the there are a several objects i.e. utensils, rail, hood and kickboard that come across as standard grey default material, but then I read its finished? ah well.

The shelved pots and pans instantly reminded me of Pixar's Ratatouille! :D

Advance - Thanks. Agreed about the rug

Grotey - :S :S Most of the utensils have material metal or brushed steel with high sub divs. Might be it's not reflecting anything that creates a issue.

Wow, Ratatouille ;)

Not feeling the black & white carpet - it would last five minutes in a real house.

The lights over the table drop down a little too low for me, though maybe they're fine.

The plants on the table are unnecessary & out of place - I'd put a bunch of flowers instead if you want something green on there.

These are all personal style issues - awesome work, as usual. You rock !
