Animating a composed object

I have a female model composed by 5 object (nude model, dress, hair, left and right shoes).
My question is how do can I create a skeleton animation for it? I tried to join all the objects using boolean operations but the final object gets uggly.


PS: Please, if this is a stupid question, please point me to a tutorial so I can learn.

Look up 'biped' in the help files... it is a pre made skeleton that you adjust to fit inside the mesh that is your character. You can also make a skeleton with 'bones', also in the help files.
There's also the character animation tutorials that come with Max.
The hair and shoes, you can link to your character's skeleton using select and link.
The dress... you can use 'skinwrap', or make the dress part of your main mesh by using 'attach' in vert sub object mode.
