Animatin\simulating cloth

hi there

got the clothes i want (1simple shirt + 1tight pants) preped and fitted using garment maker and cloth like i was showed in the max tutorial.
thing is, when i animate the character and run the simulate on the cloth it nearly never gets a hang on the body in time before it starts moving (walking jumping "MOCAP" etc)
also ,
each cloth object iv'e created added a cloth modifier to the character mesh stack, since its the target collision object. is that the way its supposed to be or should both cloth objects be in the same cloth modifier\object properties list along with the collision object.
got any clues?
