Ambient Occlusion problem - black irregular shapes appearing

Hi everyone,

I have been using max for a few years now but never seen an ambient occlusion do this:

unfortunately it is happening constantly on this model. Any ideas why? It used to look perfect a few weeks ago but now black parts appear all over and when rendering an Ink'n'paint material it misses rendering these parts...

Would really like to e this sorted as these renders are long overdue. (it is a building in plan by the way)

First thing I'd check is if there are duplicate objects/geometry in the same place

Add and edit normal modifier. Select vertex, ctrl+a and reset.

Might work.
