Aligning adjacent polygons' textures quickly
show user profile  kraj0t
Hi all! This is my first post here, though I’ve been around for a while ^^

Do you know if there is a tool that can be used for aligning adjacent faces’ textures quickly? I’m looking for something like the ‘alt+right click’ feature in Valve’s Hammer editor. Currently, in 3ds Max, I’m forced to use the uvw modifiers, which is a much slower and more cumbersome way to do it, as well as a dirtier one.

Check this youtube link at the bottom of the post; from 11:00 to 13:30, you can see what I mean. With that tool, seams are totally invisible among the two desired faces.

Is there anything like that in 3ds Max? If there isn’t, wouldn’t it be wonderful? :-S

Thanks in advance!

Nope that feature isnt in max. the closest you will get is stitching the face in the unwrap window.

That would be a great feature!

edit: the Stitch:Custom tool (in the Stitch rollout) does something like that.

Hmm, yeah, I know about the Stitch tool. But it's not the same... Thank you anyway for the replies.

Do you think that what I'm asking for could be achieved with a script? I know nothing about MAXScript, but maybe there's a way. It would definitely be a super-cool addition.

Sure it's scriptable - not in 5 minutes though - but you want a tool to move UVs around outside of any mapping modifier, which goes against max's standard behavior.
Better do it in some dedicated app, like the one you referred to.
