Noob alert - How to get closed spline filled with 'grid'
show user profile  Dr. Jim

Lemme try and explain this:

Lets say you have a shape,...lets say the letter "G". As a spline.
Now lets say you want to use some warps or cloth or such on it.

Well, need it to have an even and proper tesselation to it or else it will show polygonal artifacting when rippling.

Sooo..since tessalate generates insane results.......HOW would you go about getting it filled with a nice grid of lines?

'connect' in poly is nice,...but doesnt work with all kinds of curves and such.

Follow me?

C'mon,.....tell me how EZ it is and make me look stupid.

AFAIK cut/connect is the only way to do it. You can't just select all verts and press a button, and magically have good topology (unfortunately).

I'm thinking... to work backwards. But I haven't fully thought this through yet...

Alternative way would be to change your text interpolation to 20 and de-activating optimize. Then you can use "Grid" on your Extrude modifiers "Capping".

create a splinecage with your text - create lines in between verts to define your isoparms - surface then collapse to poly

Poop is also right.

/me thinks

you know poop means shit, right?
