after effects...
show user profile  Deobald
I am trying to export a composition in after effects as an AVI file, using a DV-PAL compression. Problem is that after exporting the video turns to black every now and then ( for fractions of a second, like flickering). Can please someone tell me what could be the problem and how it could be solved? Thanks a bunch!

You gotta figure out where the artifact is occuring....

Do you see it in a RAM preview?
If NOT....then render out to a different format, ideally an uncompressed frame format like Targa or such.
Now re-import the Targa's and do a RAM preview.....is it there now?

Assuming it is fine,....then it is being introduced in your compression codec.
Use the Targas and compress using something else like Adobe Media Encoder......

dude...are you rendering it UNCOMPRESSED?

OR are you saying it flickers when watching a RAM preview???

Indeo is a codec.

OK.....so it plays fine in a RAM preview
That means it is something in your codec.
Render it to uncompressed Targa files (uncompressed!)

Use something else to compress into your target codec. Viola. Done.

Something is screwy with your codec,.....that Indeo logo as well
seems fishy and codec 'unregistered' or such......

Try buying the codec then try again.
It's propably a protection system from Indeo.
