AE vs PP for Audio
show user profile  zeefusion
Hi all,

Hoping someone could clarify this for me. I have an animation project I am working on in After Effects which requires sound effects. Everyone always says use Premiere Pro for adding audio or even better use Audition for serious editing.

Which means I need to move my project across. However if all I am doing is dropping in sounds and maybe changing the overall db, what benefit does PP have over AE? Does it handle audio differently or worse maybe? Exporting to Media Encoder anyway so I can't see why.

I wont be doing any mixing or editing just simply dropping and placing along the timeline where I see fit. I wondered if there is a simple reason I must use PP? It will save me managing another project file if I don't need too.

You dont have to, its just not really made for it. Realtime playback in ae requires extensive prerendering.
Whenever i have this situatie i just render out a jpg sequence and drop it in a simple timeline in premiere. Much easier to shuffle, nudge and preview. You can always render a wav sequence out of premiere and place the master track under your comp in AE.

2 things that I do

1 if i can bridge it I will. Import your AE into PP then export your mixdowns back to AE

2 YOu can make proxie footage and improve the speed of everything
