Adding HDRI
show user profile  voodoochile
I would like to render an object c/w HDRI and shadows on a clear white background as to export into After Effects.

I have applied HDRI's to objects before, but the HDRI has always been the background image.
I want the HDRI applied to the object but the background stay totally white.

Any tips on how to do this?

Totally depends on what rendering system & software you're using (no clue if you're using Max/Maya/XSI or vray, brazil, scanline, etc.).

If you're using 3ds Max & mental ray then you can use something like the environment/background switcher to define a background and a separate environment (reflection) map. I believe you can also separate the background & environment maps in Vray and Brazil R/S.

Or you could always render out to a format that has an alpha channel (like PNG or TGA) and apply (or remove) an environment in post.
