About animating humanoids
show user profile  Seyren
I want to start animating and i want to start to do animations for a game i want to make to start learning to do cool stuff.

So my real question is, shoud i use bones or the Biped from 3DS?

For what i have tested with both:

Biped seems cool and can do a lot of stuff with it and i can copy paste poses and animations, so i could do mirrored animations such as running (i want them to run in the same place, not advancing the position), but i can't manage to do stuff like moving the pelvis, which limits a lot the animating.

With bones, what i like from them is that i can use IK and it seems to be a lot of fun to work with, however they seem to be weird at some points and i don't have the same control that i do have with bipeds, yet i can move the pelvis and anything i want and animations are way easier to do in some sort of things that the biped can't.

I'm probably wrong since i don't belive there is no way to move the pelvis of the biped but i would like to know what people does here use to animate, at least to animate humans.

So what would you use if you were to animate, normal bones or the biped?
