you guys have seen a screen shot here and there about this but it finally made it's way out to the world in finished form last week:

turned out rather well; the uncompressed version really does all the work some justice though.

and the autoblog link where it ended up getting some bigger attention. were apperantly in the running for some awards and stuff...

Technically, it's as good as it gets. You know what you're worth.
But as an ad, it doesn't work for me. I was too distracted by all the dico cubes to have a good look at the car. Which is visible only half the time of the funky intro.
And the music didn't work either.
My 2 kopecks.

Well done. Hope you win that comp. Just wish it was 60 sec long as it ended too soon for me - which is actually a good thing; better to leave the audience wanting more, rather than getting bored.

ok you don't get much of a look at it, but there are motoring websites for all that.

it's an ad. ad time is expensive & you've maxed it out. nice.

Actually, it'd be nice to see a break-down of all the steps. I wouldn't know where to start in creating those cubes... as in, the technicalities behind making them different colours, getting them to follow the patterns you created. I do have a clue about the explosion, though: P-bomb, right?

I like it. Leaves a little to the imagination by not getting a long look at the car. Sometimes they mystery is fun. leaves something to the imagination and something to look forward to.

Did you model the cubes or outsource them:)

thanks guys...

it was actually done with c4d's mograph tools (the ffd implmentation i put together in max wasn't nearly dynamic enough) then over to max initially but there were issues in max with 28k cubes being viewed/rendered and we eventually ended up with particle instancing in maya.

nuke, vray... the usual.

took the regular production sched of 6-8 weeks... just with 1/5 the team.
