3ds max Scaling not snapping to gridlines
show user profile  Paunescudanutz
Either the snap options in 3ds max are stupid or i'm doing something wrong? (or both?)

I have a plane that's perfectly aligned on the grid lines and when i try to scale it up or down it just snaps to some random places in between my grid lines.
Moving the object on the gird is kinda stupid too, it only works the way you would expect if you use Snaps toolbar but not if activated from the Snaps Settings window.
Anyway is there a way to go around this? I really need these things perfectly on the grid as they are part of a modular set that will go into UDK.

Just tested and I don't think there's a quick way around it. The long way is to scale it as close as possible and then use snap to grid points -> select an edge and snap it, then do that for all edges of the plane.

[edit] just double-checked and I can't get a row of verts or edges to snap. Weird.

Starting to hate Autodesk more and more, where do i have to sign to join the club?
Isn't snapping a prety important feature to this kind of app?
If i click "SNAP TO GRID LINES" i just want it to snap to the grid lines no matter what i do, whats so hard to implement that?

And why would i have snapping options that pretend to do the same things in 2 separate places?

Don't hate just yet, I got it to work. Instead of snap 3, choose snap 2 or 2.5 and it works a charm (for moving edges but not for scaling). Use the long method I put in my first post.

I know that.
So anyone knows how to snap scale properly?
