3DS Max Real-Time Multi-User Editing and Viewing
show user profile  ccampbell
Hey Guys,

I'm working on a POC for a max plug-in that I would like to sell by seat as well as an enterprise licensing solution. Any feed back would be awesome! Clearly this in infancy but Its coming along quickly.

Description:
-------------------
"Simultaneous Multi-User Scene and Asset Creation INSIDE of 3DS Max"

This plug in will allow any number of 3DS Max users to join a "meeting" and interact with or watch a user edit in real-time. This is not screen share but utilizes actual assets.

Any number of users may observe but will likely be limited to 3 or 4 editors working simultaneously.

Planned features:
- Users can pause at any time to inspect the scene and geometry, changes, assets etc.... and continue watching
- Users can pass and request editing control
- Users can edit simultaneously any area's unaffected by the host
- Viewers can make call outs and highlights in real time, even leave notes in the max file it's self
- Import/export assets at any time
- fully functional 3DS Max interface / application
- many more...

Video Example here: https://www.screencast.com/t/z7xf237wmGG

Note: Video shows actual functioning usability and currently supports any number of observers but only 1 editor.

Well, maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're doing, but unless you're going to allow multiple users to CONCURRENTLY make changes, there's not much point to the whole thing, really. Can you give more clarification on what can be done by the users when together?

Nevermind on my last question. You did spell it out decently, but I was still thinking your software would allow multiple users to actively make changes to things. Any plans on that? It's great to allow people to look around a scene, but it seems of limited value, unless you already have a market for it..?

That is clearly my poor description then. The entire point is that users can interactively work on scenes and assets together in Real-Time.

This is ... " Simultaneous Multi-User Scene and Asset Creation INSIDE of 3DS Max).

I think your right, my description is kind of crap and focuses on "sharing"... UPDATED.

Prediction: Autodesk buys this from you and this is Max 2019's "killer feature".

So like the old online fiasco, Second Life, users will be able to modify and create things as a group, concurrently....without having to take 'turns', right? If so, that's pretty solid, actually.
