3ds Max Tech Problem
show user profile  9krausec
First off 3ds max 09 is glitchy as hell when running dx10, is this the same for all of you, or is my pc in kahootz against me? And secondly when I change my driver configuration preferences and close max (takes like 4 seconds for the program to actually close) it doesn't save the pref change and reverts to what it was set on before I tried to change it..

Not very descriptive, but anyone have any ideas?

Vista x64

I have tried to reinstall max. Next step will be a format of the HD and reinstall fresh OS (a format is overdue anyways so no big deal, just curious as to why it is glitching out on me).

3DS MAX 9 and Vista x64 do not mix. I tried it - it went horribly, horribly awry, even with the hotfixes. And this was a fresh install on a completely new system and OS install.

works good for me, i use it every day at work on my vista64 notebook.

max doesnt even support (properly) dx10 in max 2009 let alone 9, stick wtih dx9 until they work their crap out.

You should follow troubleshooting steps to get it to work properly if you still having trouble with max9 dx9, that would be.
1. update your video drivers
2. update max
3. if your pc is in need of a format, then do that its a good start, atleast it will cross a few other troubleshooting problems off the list.
4. come back here and ask for help :D

Alright, will do. I am borrowing vista basic 64 from my friend tonight (I lost mine, like seemingly everything else at one point in time). I will format and tell you if it was a success or failure, thanks for the input.

dont know if you will want to do that, vista64 home basic doesnt have any administrator functions, so you will be prompted for nearly everything, its more trouble then its worth. Following the 10 basic instructions on blackviper.com should help out to begin with, but you will see what i mean.

try get your hands on xp64 or vista64 business/ultimate.

a format of the system and a fresh reinstall worked like a charm. Thanks for the help everyone.

Oh yeah, and if you juggle (or if you are just bored) you should watch this. Freaking sweet video I found a long time ago that inspired me to go clubbing (and no, not baby seals). I just happened to find it again.
