3Ds max light problem

Hi frndz,
I`m getting hopeless about light
If I want to use a omni light as light bulb
what can I do?
I watched youtube...
But,no solution
And got problem in glow[ERROR !!! ]
Can anybody help me plz...

You need to use near and far attenuation. Also you will probably need adjust the multiplier and the colour / kelvin. If you want to actually see the light when you render you might need to add a glow effect. I'm not sure what your problem is, though. Maybe post a picture using photobucket to show us what settings you're using.

I'm not sure why you're having the error. I just tried it and didn't have an issue. I've given a pictorial breakdown of applying self-illumination to an object. I know that to get good results you need to use "Arch and Design." I also stated (in the last picture) that this probably isn't the best option as you don't have full control over how far the light projects and I believe it's also more processor intensive (though I may be wrong about that, so don't take my word for it). Hopefully someone can help you with using omni lights.

But,in my laptop in 3ds max 2010 I tried that and that worked but didn`t work in my desktop in 3ds max 2012.

Sorry, I got 2011, so I can't help you there. I know 2012 has a lot of bugs. Maybe send an error report to autodesk and get them to fix it.

From what I've heard 2010 and 2011 are both the most stable.
